Ronnie, Nedra and Estelle. You have to love the innocence of their Phil Spector-calculated "tough girl" image. But it's the music that really matters and the punky fury of "Be My Baby" cuts through the pop frou-frou with drums that sound like shotgun blasts and the girls' voices cutting through the mix like a straight-razors whipped out in a street fight. We'd rumble with the Ronettes any old time.
